| Taken from "The Word Among Us" Daily meditation for April 4, 2009
Our ways are simply not God’s ways. His thoughts are simply not our thoughts (Isaiah 55:8). God likes to shake up our human assumptions. He likes to surprise us, to accomplish his plans outside of our human expectations. He likes to color outside the lines! So how should we respond? Keep a humble heart. Remember, we don’t have all the answers and we don’t always see the whole picture. God’s power is infinite. He can do things in situations that we simply cannot conceive. We should be prepared to admit that at every turn. Let God surprise you as you enter Holy Week. Allow him to stretch your expectations. He longs to touch your heart, especially as you recall and celebrate his Son’s death and resurrection. Look for signs that he is working. If you see that he is doing something powerful, perhaps something that you don’t understand, don’t be too quick to judge it or dismiss it. Investigate it. Ask God about it. He might just have something marvelous to show you! “Lord Jesus, I long to see you work in power. Holy Spirit, open the eyes of my heart to see and welcome Jesus this week. Give me a humble heart and willingness to have my expectations stretched.” Ezekiel 37:21-28; (Psalm) Jeremiah 31:10-13 | | |
| may it be known that at times you feel like you don't belong
why must the cry of a dove be heard as a call for help
give me a time when words do not rhyme call it nothing but a sign
just because A comes before B does not mean that E comes before C
there is no straight shot to heaven but a tumultous path chosen by the one up above
it is beyond our control....

| love that gives, serves, and sacrifices....that is God's love.
agape. NOT arros.
This is love. Love never looks so fully like the love of God as when it gives, and serves, and it even sacrifices for the one who is loved.
The love of God that gives...
that's what Jesus was thinking his last night on earth.

| It's cold here. But it's sunny inside. I like where I'm at. Don't want to hide.
Right now is the time To smell that fresh air Take a deep breath See what's out there
The horizon awaits Blue, purple, pink skies How the grass does grow Lots to see with these eyes
One of these days I'll look back and see (I hope) it was worth it Live happily.

| so this semester ended great. i am very proud of myself. i didn't even have to take my anatomy final. so i'm done with everything a week early! just working and trying to get things all packed up. hanging out with friends one last time before i leave.
i am about to embark on a new adventure. a venture into the unknown. the bitter cold. if i can survive this, i think i can survive anything. 30-50 degree weather. ice, snow, freezing. it's something that i've always wanted to experience. i guess i'll have my chance. this is my opportunity of a lifetime.
but i can't believe they don't have a starbucks or coffee bean there. i really don't know what i'm going to do. i'll have to create my own cafe in my apartment. maybe even steal a sign from coffee bean just to make it feel like the real thing. lol. i'll have to get creative.
it's hard leaving behind everything familiar to me. sunny, blue skies. non-humidity. 70-80 degree weather. coffee bean, starbucks, barnes & noble, borders. my car. family and friends. you realize which friends really care about you leaving when they call you and want to make sure they get to see u before you leave. God has been so generous to me. i feel so missed already and i'm not even gone yet. haha i will truly miss Cali and all the people that live here.
one thing i have really come to believe is that timing is everything. God has a plan for your welfare, not your woe. and He doesn't give you anything that you can't handle. i know i'll be a much stronger person after i graduate from nursing school in IL. it'll be a real challenge but i'm ready for it.
